I turned on my heater for the first time this morning. Arkansas has finally gotten a sharp taste of the arctic winter storm that’s slammed our northern neighbors. The interior temperature of my condo was 63 F, but outside it was 30 degrees. With the windchill factor, it felt like 21. Hell or hades might be an improvement in temperatures, if not in existential conditions.

Bless the coffee pot this morning, bless the ships at sea that bring the beans to my kitchen, bless the lands both high and low that bear the trees that produce the coffee cherry beans, bless the families that tend and care for them, and bless every cup that steams hot and fragrant in a hand this morning.

May each of you have a blessed day. Share your blessings with someone who is having a struggle to live with joy. Give more than you get.

About artandicon

Artist, head cook at Cornie's Kitchen, explorer of both the inner and outer worlds, and tree hugger. My paintings are at ARTANDICON: art at the crossroads of life & faith. Every rock, tree, stream & cloud shouts out with the joy of God! I also write a sci-fi spiritual journey blog about Miriam, a time traveling priestess from the planet Didumos, who visits earth when she has an epileptic seizure, and shares my life. Obviously, my own mind was time traveling when I set up my journey blog!
